Too many chemicals added to our water

Too many chemicals added to our water

06 Sep, 2010 05:59 PM
AFTER reading the many letters regarding fluoride, I would like to take the opportunity to quote a few facts.

This quote comes from the Minister for Environment of Victoria, October 2000.

This is what is added to Melbourne’s water supply:

Fluoride, 1030 tonnes and because that corrodes the pipes and makes the water acidic, they add:

Lime, 2070 tonnes – this turns the water into a turbid state – it goes dirty so they add:

Alum, 1070 tonnes – this is aluminium sulphate, considered at the moment to be the cause of Alzheimer’s disease, and then they add:

Chlorine, 550 tonnes and:

Sodium hydroxide, a few tonnes.

Are we also to become waste disposal units?

Anita Fundak,

Irymple.
