MR Brumby, I am awaiting with baited breath the next raft of promises that you and your fellow Labor politicians are going to present to us.
Do you honestly believe that we in rural areas are stupid?
To mention just a few broken promises and there are many more:
You promised no water from north of the divide to be taken to Melbourne (and we have the North-South pipeline).
The Yarra and Thomson heritage listed rivers as well as the Snowy were going to get more environmental flows (you took 10GL from each and who knows how much from the Snowy and now Mr Holding is promising to give a pinched amount from the North-South pipeline).
You promised to look after rural Victorians (not just make promises you have no intention of keeping – yet again, five to six months from an election).
You promised not to log old growth forests (have you noticed the injunction on Brown Mountain which looks like the Somme battlefield after logging Mr Jennings?).
You promised us the Mildura passenger train by 2004 or earlier (Mr Batchelor and your party!).
You promised to look after irrigators, instead you pretend to save water and you send it via a pipeline to Melbourne – read the Productivity Commission final report on savings and infrastructure upgrades.
You promised to represent us in rural Victorian and our represented member Candy Broad does not even live in the electorate.
You said you have spoken with the community on a number of occasions. Mr Holding closed First Mildura Irrigation Trust and only speaks with Lower Murray Water and the people who won’t upset him because they are angry at his lack of respect.
I will be talking with anyone and everyone ensuring that they do not vote for this Labor Government.
You have failed to keep promises and you persist in making even more promises thinking we are stupid.
You have become arrogant and self-seeking and self-serving. You need to be taken down a fair few pegs.
What about some proper policies, or even thinking about putting all the ones that you write on one table and actually taking the time to read them.
There have been some good ones but you have chosen to either ignore them or take the political option of shoring up votes.
We the community have the power to get rid of you and my friends and I will be making every effort to ensure that this happens.
We spoke to Kennett and we will speak to you Mr Brumby and co.
As public people you have to behave in an exemplary manner and I can tell you that you have all failed miserably.
Resign now and avoid the humiliation.
All your political rhetoric and spin won’t save any of you.
Maria Riedl,
Mildura.
