Dams filling because of rain, not pipeline

14 Sep, 2010 10:53 AM
MELBOURNE Water has cited the remarkable recovery of Melbourne’s water supply as being underpinned by the government’s water projects.

Absolute codswallop!

The North-South Pipeline has only managed to pump 24.1 billion litres into Sugarloaf Reservoir since February 10.

The real reason for the recovery is rainfall in Melbourne’s water catchments.

You know that stuff that our Minister for Expensive Water, Tim Holding, said that we could no longer rely on.

The reality is that the North-South Pipeline, due to numerous breakdowns and stoppages, is incapable of delivering 75 billion litres to Melbourne in 2010, as constantly promised by Premier Brumby and Minister Holding.

As of September 13 the maximum amount deliverable this year by operating 24/7 at 300ML/day is 56.8 billion litres, with this amount declining every day, as the pipeline remains inoperable due to the failure of its flood debris barrier.
