ON A recent trip to Melbourne to watch the footy at Etihad Stadium, I decided after the match was over to go and have a look at the Crown Casino to get an idea as to what the proposed Mildura Jewel casino might look like.
It didn’t take long to find out.
As soon as I stepped in through the front door I was confronted by a wall of poker machines.
A few gaming tables, but every other available space was taken up by poker machines.
Casinos exist for one reason only: to make a lot of money for a few people for no net benefit to the rest of society.
