RED Cliffs Football Netball Club has suffered a blow ahead of the upcoming season with coach Rob Price returning to the Riverland Football League.
Price will play for Barmera Monash for 2012, in hopes of reaching 300 games for the league, which qualifies an individual for league life membership.
The former Tigers coach has indicated this coming season will be his last in the seniors and he wanted to achieve the 300 game milestone.
While Price could not be contacted, Barmera Monash Football Club manager Ashley Sulky said it was great to have someone of Price’s experience at the club.
“After a meeting at the club Monday night, we are told it is happening,” he said.
“He has played most of his football for Berri, but Barmera Monash was where he got his start and first played A Grade.
“Obviously he has had a great career in the Riverland and is keen to achieve his 300 games. He is pretty passionate about it, returning from Red Cliffs where he was coaching and he thoroughly enjoyed himself.”
Mr Sulky said Price had told him 2012 would be his seniors “swan song”.
Price is said to be 16 games shy of his 300, and with the Riverland Football League playing 16 rounds plus finals, Price will need to play every game to reach the target. Price is likely to return to Red Cliffs in 2013.
