Hawks into grand final

31 Aug, 2010 05:00 AM
HAWKS held off a strong challenge from Wanderers after coming from behind to grab the win, the preliminary final, and a berth in the Sunraysia Baseball League grand final next week against Eagles.

Both sides were at full strength, with Hawks going in as favourites having defeated Wanderers each time they met this year.

In perfect sunshine the crowd was expecting an exciting game and they weren’t disappointed as the lead see-sawed one way then the other as both teams searched for victory.

Hawks started with Matt Smith on the mound and he began well by shutting Wanderers down in order in the first dig.

Wanderers began with Troy Harrison and although Trent Cross worked a two-out walk Wanderers shut Hawks down for no score.
