Demons have continued their domination of the Mildura Basketball Association A grade women’s competition.
They had a commanding 42-point win over the Alcheringa Saints in round 14.
Despite playing with only five players due to injury and unavailability, the Demons were in complete control at half time leading 32 to 17.
But a dominant third period where they outscored the Saints 29 to nine set up the huge win.
A relative close fourth period where the Saints continued to battle hard saw Demons run out 79 to 37 winners.
Tracey Sherlock was the standout in the game with 27 points and was well supported by Tessa Robertson with 17 points.
For Alcheringa, Christine Delcastegne had 10 points with Sharon Branson working hard around the basket for eight points.
The win now sees the Demons now move three games clear at the top of the ladder with a commanding percentage of 172, a whopping 70 clear of the second placed Irymple Tigers.
Workers, led by coach James Madigan, have snuck into the top four with a three-point win over the second placed Irymple Tigers.
Both teams struggled early to score but an even team performance from Workers over the final three periods with Sharne Lane and Ashley Niutta, both scoring nine points, saw Workers hang on for a well deserved 53 – 50 win.
Irymple coach Leanne Wright lead all scorers with 17 points while Laura Pisconeri hit double figures with 10.
In the final game of the round, Hawks also had a narrow victory just getting over the young Wildcats teams 65 to 60 which has seen them cling to third position on the ladder.
Like the Demons before them, it was the third period which set up the win for Hawks, out scoring their opponents by 12 points and setting up a seven-point three-quarter-time lead.
The final 10 minutes was basket for basket with Wildcats coach Dennis Chaplin mixing up his line up to find the required edge to get his team in front.
Even though they were able to win the quarter 18 to 16, it was not enough to get the Wildcats over the line.
Demalza Brougham was top scorer for the game with 15 points with strong assistance from Yelena Grivec who had 14 points, while youngster Montana MacFarlane continued her good form for Wildcats with 18 points and Ebony Sandiman was strong with 14.
