Alvey back

WENTWORTH coach Mark Alvey has declared himself a certain starter for today’s cut-throat Sunraysia Football and Netball League preliminary final against Irymple.

The onballer has missed the past five rounds with hamstring problems including last weekend’s 108-point second semi-final loss to flag favourites Robinvale.

The former Western Bulldogs and Essendon player said he was close to returning last Saturday, but decided to rest the leg a further week to ensure his inclusion today.

Last weekend’s loss was the third 100-point plus defeat at the hands of the Eagles and his availability will be a huge boost for team morale.

However, Wentworth have named four on the interchange with speculation over the fitness of Wade Hancock, who may have convinced selectors on Thursday night of his availability to line up in the starting 18.
