Basketball fans urged to support Heat

18 Mar, 2010 03:00 AM
MILDURA basketball fans are being urged to show their true colours this weekend with free admission to the Mildura Heat’s season opener in the Big V competition.

Elite level basketball returns to the WHK Mildura Hothouse on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon with a huge double-header program against Warrandyte for both the Hydraulic Solutions men’s team and Sportzprint women’s team.

And Mildura’s next generation basketballers and die-hard fans can get in free to help the teams to a dream start in 2010.

Anyone wearing a Mildura Heat basketball polo or just red and black colours will be admitted to the weekend games free-of-charge.

Heat chairman Ross McFarlane said the aim was to get a good home crowd to the opening games.

“Warrandyte is a new team in the Division Three men’s and they were finalists in the Division One women’s last season, so it’ll be quality basketball from the word go this season,” McFarlane said.
