Mildura boy, Daniel, needs a lift

MARY Wood’s not asking for much.

Like most grandparents, she just wants the best possible life for her grandson Daniel.

But, Daniel, a 14-year-old cerebral palsy sufferer, is a walking time bomb.

Diagnosed with the debilitating condition when he was just two years old, doctors say Daniel will probably die a “young man”.

So, with time ticking, Ms Wood is all too aware every minute counts.

Endeavouring to make the rest of Daniel’s life as enjoyable as possible, Ms Wood and Daniel’s mother Trudy Ralli are appealing for the public’s help.

“Daniel has outgrown the car his mum drives so we would like help to purchase another car that will accommodate him in comfort,” Ms Wood said.

“He hits his head when he goes into the van and there is not much room when he throws his arms around.”

The Sunraysia Daily team watched as Daniel’s mother Ms Ralli – who weighs a mere “40-something kilograms” – struggled to push the teenager and his wheelchair up a ramp and into her Nissan Nomad.
