River flood watch

06 Sep, 2010 05:00 AM
RIVERS and streams throughout Victoria have risen sharply after heavy falls of rain fell across the state onto already sodden catchments.

A moderate to minor flood warning has been issued for the Murray River downstream of Lake Hume with authorities yesterday saying they would issue more definite advice for S0unraysia later this week.

Falls of up to 150mm and more have been recorded in the river’s catchment areas in the north-east to be joined by “major” flood flows in the Loddon and other streams now moving towards the Murray.
