One way at the Mildura airport

08 Sep, 2010 05:00 AM
A NEW one-way ring route will improve traffic flow at Mildura Airport from today.

Drivers will now follow signs and turn left before the car park to reach the drop off point at the front of the terminal, as well as short-term and secure parking.

Continuing right will still lead travellers to the long-term parking area.

Mildura Airport CEO Bill Burke said the change would create a much easier and safer environment for passengers.

“Changing circulation is part of the master plan for the airport, and the final stages are being implemented on Wednesday,” he said.

“We have implemented the first stage of a master ring road system we planned some time ago... to ease circulation and get rid of congestion.

“There were a number of points with conflicting traffic.

“The long term and secure car parking was a relatively simple transition, but this was more complicated.”

Secure undercover parking will also be fully automated from today.

A convenient location has been created west of the terminal building, adjacent to the taxi rank to drop off departing passengers.
