Mildura's solar bid launch

06 Sep, 2010 05:00 AM
ONLY a small audience was on hand to witness the launch of the latest bid to build a solar power station near Mildura.

Mayor Glenn Milne opened the TRUenergy Project Information Centre in the Old Mildura Sports Centre on the corner of Langtree Avenue and Ninth Street on Saturday.

TRUenergy proposes to build a 180 megawatt solar power station south of Mildura near Red Cliffs as part of the Federal Government’s Solar Flagships Program.

The plant will use First Solar’s photovoltaic PV technology and be able to power more than 60,000 homes.

Pre-construction activities of project sitting, stakeholder and community consultation and planning/ environmental approvals are being managed by Element Projects.
