POLICE are using security camera footage to identify an outlaw anti-casino group.
Mildura’s casino debate heated up yesterday after the Guerrilla Artists Group allegedly illegally posted anti-casino messages within Mildura’s CBD.
About six businesses affiliated with the newly formed pro-casino, pro-development group Progress Mildura were targeted in the poster rampage.
The A3 paper posters were also glued to the walls of the Sunraysia Daily and other news outlets.
Putting a slur on Mildura’s casino proposal, slogans on the posters included ‘I looked around Victoria for the most vulnerable community and Mildura came out on top’, ‘Casinos breed crime’ and ‘Don’t gamble on our future’.
The posters were all stamped with an image of a gorilla with a gag in its mouth and the text ‘Guerrilla Artists Group Against Casinos’ – a previously unheard of group.
Sunraysia Against Casinos has denied any links with the group or involvement in the poster spree.
Sgt Jim Mason said CCTV footage would be used to help identify any alleged offenders.
“We had a few calls about it this morning. We’ve spoken to the representatives of the anti-casino group and have made them aware that they need permission before posting signs on buildings.
