Friday night fight at Centro

06 Sep, 2010 05:00 AM
AN onlooker to a fight on Friday night at the Centro Mildura Shopping Centre in Fifteenth Street helped police subdue a fast running suspect.

Four to five police vehicles attended an ugly incident at Centro about 8.30pm.

Large numbers of youths were milling around the centre entrance of the popular shopping centre when a fight appeared to break out between two girls.

Police later said about 20 youths were involved in the incident as tempers continued to flare.

Shopkeepers and shoppers came out of the centre to watch as the fight developed and it is believed a bottle was used to injure one girl, and hair extensions were also ripped out of the girl’s hair during the fight.

Witnesses observed the fight at the centre entrance appeared to quieten down, particularly when police began fining onlookers for failing to move on, when a second incident occurred.
