Family escapes serious injury

10 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
A FAMILY of four escaped serious injury after a two-car collision in Red Cliffs yesterday.

Police say a Mitsubishi sedan, driven by a 63-year-old Irymple man, was travelling on the Calder Highway towards Irymple when it and a VT Holden wagon driven by a learner driver collided about 2pm.

The wagon, driven by a 19-year-old Mildura man with his parents and brother as passengers, sustained damage to its front right-hand door. An ambulance spokesman said one of the passengers was treated at the scene but refused transport to hospital.

Mildura Highway Patrol diverted traffic from the area until 3.30pm.

Both vehicles were write-offs.

Meanwhile, a Mildura woman in her 80s crashed her vehicle into another vehicle at the notorious Benetook Avenue and Sixteenth Street intersection about 3.30pm on Tuesday.

Police allege she stopped at the stop sign but failed to see the car.
