Casino vote

24 May, 2010 05:00 AM
MILDURA Rural City Council will vote on the controversial casino proposal this week.

In a surprise development, council will decide at Thursday’s meeting whether the complex fits with its long-held dreams for the riverfront.

Council commissioned a review in April to examine the proposed casino, hotel and entertainment centre to see if it “matched” its riverfront master plan.

Earlier this month the consultants reported the proposal suited the plan, so council last week decided to vote on whether or not to accept the recommendation at Thursday’s open council meeting.

Mayor Glenn Milne yesterday denied council was in fact voting for or against the Mildura Jewel complex.
